Full Moon Festivals
Luminara
Luminara is the official festival celebrating the full moon of Lunestria.
During Luminaria, star readings, prophecy and navigation are considered blessed. Seer offer readings. Sailor chart the coming month.
Umbranox
Umbranox is held when Crescentia is full.
It is not officially sanctioned by the Luminary Court, staying a folk tradition . It is universally observed anyway, and people speak their secrets into sealed vessels.
It is also a moment to quietly honor the dead.
Serenith
Serenith is held when Serenis is full, and thus is announced and organised by Oneiroa’s temple.
Dream rituals, quiet music, meditative gatherings. Watch for falling scales. The Dreamscape is said to be most accessible on these nights.
Yearly Festivals
All dates are fixed. They don’t shift year to year. That’s about the only thing every culture in Aetheris agrees on, though they don’t all celebrate the same ones. They happen on the first given named day of the named month. For example, the Luminaria Festival happens on the first Gatesday of Springtide.
First Lantern
This festival marks the cultural new year for farming communities.
This festival celebrates new beginnings and light. Lanterns are lit at dawn, and prayers offered to Helia and Verdantia. Verdantia’s groves are blessed.
It is celebrated on the Gatesday of Springtide.
Moonlit Masquerade
For this celebration, dances are held under the full moonlight of Lunestria. Officially a joyful occasion, and masks are worn to embody spirits of dreams and reflection.
Less officially, certain guilds conduct business better done in masks. Nocturna’s faithful keep the peace.
It is celebrated on the Starday of Moondrift.
Summer Solstice Revelry
The longest day of the year, celebrated by bonfires through the night, games and offerings to Helia and Aquilon.
Sailors give Aquilon his due before the summer voyage season.
It is celebrated on the Gatesday of Bloomtide.
Veilstones Remembrance
The most solemn celebration. A day to remember the fallen in past conflicts. Candles are lit and offerings placed on altars. Most towns go quiet. Respects are paid to Erebos and Durandel.
The most attended festival of the year by volume of quiet private observance.
It is celebrated on the Rootday of Dusktide.
Harvest Moon Feast
To celebrate the end of the harvest, meals are shared in thanks for the year’s crops. Gifts are given to those in need.
Terra’s priests bless the last grain.
It is celebrated on the Moonday of Eventide.
Starshroud Vigil
As we get close to the end of the year on the year’s clearest night, this festival is for stargazing, storytelling, and future-divining. Wishes are spoken aloud.
Magethos’s scholars run their year-end ley-line calibrations. The night before the Triune Alignment.
It is celebrated on the Sylvasday of Starglow.
Other Festivals
Snowveil Silence
This festival is a folk tradition, never formalised. A simple hour of communal silence at dusk, on the first Glassedday of Snowcloak. Durandel’s orders feed the hungry.
No music, no lanterns. Just the snow.
