Three moons, three different rhythms. Lunestria and Crescentia run on the standard monthly cycle. Serenis doesn’t - she appears on roughly a six-week rotation that doesn’t align with the calendar months, and her arrival is announced by Oneiroa’s temples a few days in advance rather than predicted off a standard chart.

The Moons

Lunestria

Pale silver and large, the dominant presence in the night sky. Tied to Astraia, goddess of Stars, Navigation and Destiny. Sailors navigate by her. Oracles read by her. The Luminary Court built its entire calendar around her cycle, which tells you most of what you need to know about how seriously her worship is taken in official circles.

Its festival is called Luminara.

Crescentia

Known as the Scythe Moon, it glows faintly with a dusky shimmer. Folk tales claim it was born of celestial battle, now watching over nightmares and broken promises.

Grey and crescent-scarred, noticeably smaller than Lunestria. Associated with secrets, lost things and the kind of promises people make and then quietly stop keeping.

No deity claims formal dominion over it. The Luminary Court calls it a natural celestial body and considers the matter closed. Most people accept that and get on with things, which is probably what the Court is counting on. This position has held for several hundred years despite nobody finding it especially satisfying.

Its festival is Umbranox.

Serenis

Rare and tranquil, Serenis appears only on specific nights each month. Dreamwalkers and mystics believe it governs dreams, sleep, and revelations.

Faint and bluish-white, and the hardest to spot unless you’re looking for it. Serenis doesn’t follow the same monthly rhythm as the other two - she appears on roughly a six-week cycle, announced by Oneiroa’s temples a few days before rather than predicted off a standard calendar.

Oneiroa claims her as her own, and most people accept this without asking too many questions. Rarely a streak of light falls from her direction - a bright comet, there and gone in two or three seconds. Oneiroa’s faithful call them dream-falls and treat the night as auspicious.

Oneiroa’s claim isn’t contested, exactly, but it is complicated. The moon predates Oneiroa’s involvement with it. Most people don’t think about this. Some do.

Its festival is Serenith.

StarglowFullFullTriune Alignment - Starshroud Vigil

Serenis appears on her own six-week cycle and is not listed above. When she’s full, her festival (Serenith) is announced by Oneiroa’s temples. In years where her cycle lands at Starglow, the Triune Alignment includes all three moons - the most significant astronomical event in the calendar.

Triune Alignment

On the last day of Starglow, the three moons might be at their fullest at the same time, in an event called the Triune alignement. This requires Serenis’ six-week cycle to land correctly. In years when it doesn’t, the alignment is Lunestria and Crescentia only - significant, but not the full event.

Astraia’s faithful reckon prophetic dreams on this night come in clearer than any other. The Luminary Court neither confirms nor denies this, which is basically their answer to anything they’d rather not think too hard about.

Oneiroa’s temples do their most significant dreamwork of the year on this night. They’ll tell you it’s because Serenis amplifies everything. They’re right about that much, though the reason is a bit more complicated than they let on.

Common folk say the veil between planes feels thinner on this night. They’re right about that. Often times throughout history, if something big has happened, its either happened on this day or the spark that kicks off the following events occurred due to something that happened on this day.
