Lore
Erebos is both feared and revered—feared for his association with death, but revered for the peace he brings to it. Legends tell that he once carried the first mortal soul across the veil, whispering comfort until the mortal stilled. In myth, he punishes traitors by binding their shadows, leaving them restless even after death. His presence balances Durandel’s mercy with quiet inevitability, and his shadows often clash with the light of Helia. He stands in eternal opposition to Umbriel, who corrupts rather than guides souls to rest.
Common Knowledge in Eldoria
“Erebos sees the truth in shadow.” Common folk believe that confessing secrets under moonlight eases the weight of guilt, for Erebos will carry the burden away. Funerals often end with a raven feather burned on the pyre, said to guide the soul safely across the veil. Children are sometimes warned that speaking lies in the dark will summon “Erebos’s eyes.”
