Used alongside Heroic Resolve to reward boldness, creativity, and table energy.
No Standard Inspiration
The default 5e Inspiration system is not used. Instead, this campaign uses a more engaging and dynamic method to distribute inspiration at the table.
Start-of-Session Roll
At the start of each game session:
- Every player rolls 1d20.
- The highest roll receives 1 point of Inspiration.
- In the event of a tie, all tied players must re-roll
The GM also gains 1 point of Inspiration as part of this mechanic — regardless of who wins.
Group-Wide Inspiration Offers
At times, the DM may offer a table-wide inspiration reward, such as:
- After a significant story milestone
- For amazing collaborative roleplay or creativity
- To enhance tension before a high-stakes encounter
If this happens:
- All players receive 1 point of Inspiration
- The GM gains the same number of Inspiration points (equal to the number of players)
Using Inspiration (Players & DM)
- Players may use Inspiration to reroll any d20 test, as per standard rules.
- GM may use Inspiration to:
- Reroll an enemy’s roll
- Reroll a player’s roll
- Activate lair/environment effects
- Introduce a thematic twist or interrupt
- Apply pressure in boss or set-piece encounters
GM uses are always intended to enhance drama — not to punish.
