The Thinned Blood

Half-giants are known to exist and can be found living among mortals, though they are far less common than other races. Their blood is thinned by generations, or comes from rare and unusual unions with the giantkin. These thin-bloods, as they are sometimes called, can be seen in certain rural settlements and townships across the region, living quiet lives and often working in trades that value strength or endurance.

There are persistent rumours that the Luminary Court, sometime in the past century, quietly moved to remove most of them from the cities or placed restrictions on their presence. Whether this was out of fear, superstition, or political concern is unknown, but many suspect it was done in silence and without debate.

Though not as immense as their giant kin, half-giants carry an imposing presence and fragments of ancient might. In some cases, full-blooded giants will seek them out, recognising them as distant kin. Outsiders, certainly, but still connected. Some are taken in, protected or taught. Others are simply watched from afar.

That said, giants are not united in thought or temperament. One clan might cradle a half-giant in gentle arms. Another might see them as an insult to legacy and break them without a second thought. In the world of giants, kindness and cruelty walk side by side, and the fate of a half-giant often depends on which hand reaches out first.
