The Devil’s Sight eldritch invocation is restricted in this campaign for narrative and balance reasons.
Restriction Summary
- Devil’s Sight is not available to Warlocks or creatures below 11th total character level.
- This applies regardless of class level, pact, or subclass.
Rationale
This restriction reflects the campaign setting’s view of true magical darkvision as a rare and powerful gift. It encourages alternative magical or strategic solutions to darkness-based obstacles in early play.
Acquisition at Higher Levels
Once a character reaches 11th level overall (multiclassing included), the Devil’s Sight invocation becomes available as normal.
DM Note – Exceptions and Special Cases
DMs may allow access to Devil Sight before level 11 under the following circumstances:
- Divine Boons: A god or greater being bestows limited or conditional darkvision beyond mortal means.
- Patron Favour: Warlocks may earn an early version of Devil Sight through significant narrative actions, pact-bound rituals, or completing a specific quest for their patron.
- Temporary Effects: Items, spells, or artefacts may grant limited-duration Devil’s Sight earlier, especially in high-magic zones or planar environments.
