Stratos

Discord Pantheon - Minor God of Wind, Movement, Freedom

Overview

Stratos is the gale of rebellion, the restless wind that scatters chains and drives wanderers into the unknown. He is the storm without anchor, the breath of freedom that tempts mortals from the safe path. Where Aquilon guides winds to protect travellers and bring them home, Stratos leads them astray, into wild skies and roads that may never return. He is the call of the horizon, whispering that no bond, no oath, and no law is stronger than the will to break free.

Symbol

A spiral wind motif, often carved into wood or bone, sometimes painted in shifting colours to mimic the open sky.

Eldorian Name

Stratos (TBD)

Worship

Favoured Offerings

Feathers cast from high places, kites released to the wind until lost, or whispered vows of freedom spoken into storms. Some cults free caged birds in his name, believing Stratos carries their cries upward.

Typical Followers

Nomads who shun walls, wanderers who never settle, escaping slaves who seek the wind’s aid, and rebels who crave liberty over law. Storytellers, drifters, and those who live by no master often claim him, seeing their lives as part of his endless storm.

Temples & Orders

His shrines are impermanent, often cairns on windswept ridges or kites tethered to cliffs. Cults of Stratos raise sky temples where winds howl through open arches, never sealed, never bound. His orders are loose bands who stir unrest and then vanish like squalls, their loyalty bound only to the next rising wind.

Lore

Legends say Stratos was born from the first storm that shattered a tyrant’s prison gates, and that he has despised all bonds ever since. Aquilon’s winds guide sailors home and protect caravans across the wild, but Stratos’s winds scatter, divide, and lure travellers away. Their rivalry is seen in storms: one current carrying safely to harbour, another tearing sails to ribbons. Stratos appears in tales as a cloaked figure borne on wild gusts, laughing as chains snap and paths diverge.

Common Knowledge in Eldoria

“Kites rise on Stratos’s breath” is said in spring, when children loose them to the sky. Escaping slaves whisper “Stratos carries me” as prayer and promise. When storms scatter caravans or ships vanish in squalls, folk mutter he has taken them astray. Parents warn reckless children not to chase the wind too far, or “Stratos will carry you beyond the map.”
